The Medical Foundation of Chattanooga will hold open enrollment events for the Affordable Health Care and Health Insurance Marketplace. These events are designed to educate the public about the Affordable Health Care Law (including the essential health benefits that must be offered by insurers), what the Law means for them, what documentation will be needed during the eligibility determination and enrollment process, as well as the assistance available to help you navigate the entire process.

The following enrollment events are currently scheduled in Southeast Tennessee:

·         Saturday, Nov. 15 – 10 a.m.-2 p.m. – New Covenant Fellowship, 1326 N. Moore Rd., Chattanooga

·         Tuesday, Nov. 18 – 4-7 p.m. – Collegedale Library, 9318 Apison Pike, Collegedale

·         Monday, Nov. 20 – 5-7:30 p.m. – Clyde Roddy Library, 371 First Ave., Dayton

·         Saturday, Nov. 22 – 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (CST) – Jasper Public Library, 14 W. Second St., Jasper

·         Tuesday, Dec. 9 – 3-7 p.m. – Polk County Library, 126 Polk St., Benton

Open enrollment is from Nov. 15, 2014-Feb. 15, 2015. To have health care coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2015, enrollment in the healthcare marketplace needs to occur by Dec. 15, 2014. Navigators will be available for free assistance at the enrollment events. Consumers will need to bring proof of identity (driver’s license or picture ID), have social security numbers and birth dates for all members in the household, and proof of income (W2s, 2013 income tax return or paystubs).

For those consumers enrolled in a Qualified Health Care Plan from the Marketplace in 2014, they will need to shop again and update their application plan for 2015 coverage. Consumers will receive at least one letter from the Marketplace and their insurance company notifying them to re-enroll. However, if the consumer did not give the Marketplace permission to use their tax returns, they will be enrolled into the same plan with no subsidies.

The public is invited to attend and certified Healthcare Marketplace Navigators will be present to answer questions and assist with enrollment. For more information, call 622-2872.
