Thanksgiving Marketplace To Kick Off Rugby Holiday Season

  • Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Start your holiday shopping season in Historic Rugby on Friday, Nov. 28. Thanksgiving Marketplace will showcase a variety of local artists and crafters, as well as the Shops at Rugby. This event is free and hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.

Just in time for Christmas, The Shops at Rugby will be featuring a variety of artisans and crafters, as well as running some specials of their own.  At the Rugby Commissary find displays of silver spoon jewelry by Linda Asbury, paintings by Mara Trumbo, rug hooking by Gail Hill, and baskets by Katie Avram, as well as the usual Commissary offerings. Across the street, the Spirit of Red Hill will be featuring the art work of proprietors Annie Patterson and Donna Hefner in addition to numerous antiques and vintage items.

Historic Rugby will also host a series of workshops featuring Christmas ornament making with Sue Duncan and embroidery with Mary Curren. The price for each class is $10. Call 423-628-2441 for more information and to make reservations.

Thanksgiving Marketplace is just the first of the holiday season events at Historic Rugby.  On Dec. 6 and 13, Historic Rugby will also celebrate a Victorian Christmas from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Christmas at Rugby. More information is available by contacting Historic Rugby at 423-628-2441 or emailing rugbyeducation@highland.net.  Visit www.historicrugby.org for more details on these and other events at Historic Rugby.
