Applauding Move Of Erlanger To Not-For-Profit Structure

  • Saturday, February 22, 2014

As the chief development officer for Erlanger, I am extremely pleased that our state legislators introduced the Modernization Act in the General Assembly.  Under a newly formed not-for-profit structure, there is no question that charitable contributions to Erlanger will increase, enabling our Foundation to add even more beneficial programs to enhance our community.

It is well known within the philanthropic community that donors feel more comfortable donating to a non-profit rather than a governmental entity.  Grady Hospital, for example, received significant donations after its conversion to a 501 (C) 3 status.  This effort by our legislators will benefit our community in many ways, and is one that our Foundation staff and board applauds.
