BlueCross Employees To Take Part In Community Zumba Party

  • Friday, June 20, 2014

BlueCare Tennessee employees will be participating in a community Zumba party at Coolidge Park on Saturday from 9 - 10 a.m.  Everyone in the Chattanooga-area is invited to Zumba along with them.

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training – alternating fast and slow rhythms – and resistance building. According to a recent study, the average number of calories burned doing an intense Zumba workout was 817 in an hour.

The free event is open to the community and is part of BlueCare’s “Lifting our Members” faith-based toolkit, a resource for churches and other places of worship throughout Tennessee. The toolkit can be used to encourage and implement healthy behaviors to help bridge the gap in health care disparities. The toolkit includes a health care calendar, which focuses on important health issues each month, and a preventive health guide with flyers and information relevant to various health concerns faced by different population groups.
