Lead Vocalist For Several Local Bands For Many Years

John W. Gibson, Jr., 55, of Soddy Daisy, died on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith and had recently committed his life to Christ.

He was employed by Waffle House Corporation for 25 years until a recent illness earlier this year. John was also known locally as an avid lead vocalist with a number of named bands including Andromeda, Badd Catz, Dr. Bombay and White Heat, for 35 years in the Chattanooga area.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin and Martine Gibson and Harold and Mildred Scribner; his mother, Shirnema Gibson; his father, John W. Gibson, Sr.; three uncles, Marlin Gibson, David Gibson and Russell Scribner and an aunt, Ramona Walker.

John is survived by his wife, Tonya Gibson; daughters, Cheyenne and Aja Gibson; brother, Chris Gibson; mother and father-in-law, Sarah and Doyle Gordon; brother-in-law, Travis Gordon; niece Ashley Gibson and a large circle of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation with his family is 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, followed by a memorial service at 8 p.m. with J.D. Gibson officiating, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.
