Martha “Granny” Skipper Montieth, 86, of Dalton, GA, died Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015 at Regency Park Health Care.
Martha was born January 25, 1929 in Whitfield County, to the late Charlie Skipper and Gertrude Powell Skipper; and was also preceeded in death by her husband, Willie “Dan” Montieth; son, Skip Montieth; granddaughter, Cynthia Montieth Palomino; sister, Gussie Amos Whitlock; and brothers, Charles Skipper, Price Skipper and Kenneth Skipper.
Martha Montieth is survived by her children, Danny and Patricia Montieth of Dalton, Kenneth and Ginger Montieth of Rocky Face and Linda Montieth of Dalton; sister, Mary Helen Rogers; grandchildren, Pam Murray and Kelly Montieth Barnett; great-grandchildren, Griselda Vazquez, Miguel Aristondo, Kelcie Murray and Ryleigh Murray; and two very special friends, Patty Cakes Joyce and Tammy Vaughn.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Regency Park Health Care for their loving kindness they shown towards their mother and a very special thank you to her roommate, Geneva Baker.
To celebrate the life of Mrs. Martha Montieth, funeral services will be held on Saturday February 21, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Whaley and Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating. Interment will follow the service at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, from 5-9 p.m. and from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 at Ponders Melrose Chapel, Dalton, who has charge of the arrangements.
