The Hamilton Heights Hawks announced Tuesday that they have added rising junior point guard Shai Alexander from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The 6-foot-3-inch Alexander plays for Adidas UPLAY Canada. Alexander, along with Kenold Knight, the president of Adidas UPLAY Canada, visited in Chattanooga this past weekend with the Hawks' administration and coaching staff.

“We are very excited about Shai coming next year,” Hawks coach Zach Ferrell said.

“He is a great player and a great person. Shai will be a fantastic addition to our school and basketball program.”

The UPLAY Canada director, Dwayne Washington, initiated the conversation several months ago concerning the possibility of Alexander joining the Hawks' nationally ranked basketball program.

Alexander has received college Division I scholarship offers from Binghamton of the American East Conference and American University of the Patriot League. He also has received strong interest from Tennessee, Davidson, Lehigh, Milwaukee-Wisconsin, Texas Chrisitian, New Mexico, Vanderbilt, and UNLV.

Alexander will be expected to fill the shoes of 2015 point guard Milos Andelic, who triggered the Hawks’ offense and spearheaded the team’s tenacious defense. Andelic signed with Chattanooga State Community College.
