St. Marks Church Presents Gaither-Style Homecoming Concert

  • Saturday, August 8, 2015

St Marks Church presents Homecoming at St Marks, A Gaither-Style concert on Aug. 29-30. The concert will be held on the historic St Marks campus at 701 Mississippi Ave. The concert on Aug. 29 will begin at 7 p.m. and the concert on Aug. 30 will begin at 3 p.m. The event is free to the public, with a free will offering taken.

The St Marks Praise Team consists of semi-professional musicians and vocalists who perform weekly at the church. The vocal team and full band, led by Jeanne Eller, is widely acclaimed for their performances and is often sought to perform at other local events. This concert will feature an assortment of music in the southern gospel stylings of Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band. Although not all selections will be Gaither pieces, the repertoire will focus on rich harmony, a variety of tempo and an energy level not to be rivaled.

Bill Gaither said, "The sound is broadly based. It does have a country rhythm feel, a southern gospel rhythm feel and an inspirational flavor. It's pretty hard to pigeonhole us. I prefer to describe ours as an 'Americana' sound. There is a camaraderie of spirits and of sound that is very, very exciting!"

Jeanne Eller is available for phone or in-person interviews. Please contact her at 423-463-5059 to set up a time that is convenient.
