UTC Soccer Falls 3-0 At Lipscomb

 The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Lipscomb Friday night at Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The Mocs fall to 0-4 on the year while the Bison improve to 4-0-2 and have yet to surrender a goal.
 
“Lipscomb showed why they are unbeaten and haven’t conceded a goal,” Chattanooga head coach Gavin McKinney said. “They were very well organized and hard working.”
 
Lipscomb scored its first goal in the 14th minute, ending the Mocs’ three game first-half scoreless streak.
Brooke Brenner slotted a shot into the top corner to make it a 1-0 game. Lipscomb would only have four more looks in the half with UTC keeper Katie Emig (Knoxville, Tenn.) making two of her five saves to hold the score to 1-0 at the half.
 
In the second half, Emig made three more saves and the Mocs had four shots with two on goal. Freshman Shelby Williams (Jackson, Tenn.) had the first of UTC’s two shots on goal in the 61st minute. Sophomore Emily Moseley (Nashville, Tenn.) had two shots for Chattanooga getting close with a shot on goal at the 78:44 mark of the game.
 
The Bison added goals from Caroline Chadwell at the 64:18 mark in traffic to make it 2-0 and from Lindsay Brent in the 78th minute for the final tally.
 
Lipscomb, with eight goals on the night, outshot Chattanooga 17-5 with an 8-2 on goal advantage. Emig had five saves while Lipscomb’s keeper Anna Buhigas made two.
 
“They made it hard for us and were our toughest test this season,” McKinney said.
 
The Mocs remain on the road Sunday afternoon at Alabama A&M with a 4 p.m. matchup. The Bulldogs are 0-3. Last season the two teams battled it out to a 3-3 draw in Chattanooga.
