UTC Golfers Finish Sixth At Palmetto Intercollegiate

  • Tuesday, October 25, 2016
The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team ended its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. Today’s 305 gave the squad a 54-hole total of 895.

Maria Pineiro led the Mocs in the final round with a 75. Holly Morgan was one behind her at 76 with Monica San Juan and Cristina Perez each carding 77s.

San Juan posted her first top 10 of the season tying for eighth. Her 220 total was buoyed by an opening round 70, her low 18 of the season. San Juan tied her career-best five birdies in each of the first two rounds, and the 11 total over three days ties Maddy McDanel (Mason Rudolph Champ.) for most by a Moc through five events.

Morgan joined San Juan in the top 20, her third such showing in the last four tourneys.
The freshman tallied 224 to tie for 19th. It was one better than fellow freshman Pineiro who came in at 225. Perez was another three behind her at 228 with Megan Woods finishing at 242.

Campbell claimed the team win shooting 879. That was two better than second-round leader Coastal Carolina at 881. Host College of Charleston was third with an 883. Ole Miss’ Katy Harris (212) claimed the win by one over CCU’s Malene Krolboll Hansen (213).

Chattanooga returns to action in February back on Kiawah Island for the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic. The three-day, 54-hole tourney is February 26-28 at Oak Point and Osprey Point Golf Clubs.
