ContinuCare Health Services Earns Five-Star Rating

  • Monday, February 1, 2016

ContinuCare HealthServices, a home health provider and subsidiary of the Erlanger Health System, earned a 5-star rating, the highest possible, from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

CMS introduced the first “patient experience of care” star ratings on Home Health Compare. Known as Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS), the survey measures and compares patients’ experiences with home health agencies.

Home Health Compare is the agency’s public information website that provides information on how well Medicare-certified agencies provide care to their patients. The HHCAHPS survey rates and reports patients’ experiences of care ranging from one star to five stars using data from patients (or the family or friends of patients) who have been treated by the agency. Five stars is the highest rating and reflects the best patient experience.

ContinuCare is one of only three home health agencies in the Chattanooga area to have received the highest rating in patient experience from CMS, ContinuCare serves the needs of both adults and children in the comfort of their homes by providing nursing, rehabilitation therapies and medical equipment.  ContinuCare also offers pharmacy and delivery services at four convenient Erlanger Pharmacy locations.

“Having the HHCAHPS Survey star ratings on Home Health Compare helps people needing home health services, along with their families, make more informed health care decisions and encourages home health agencies to strive for higher levels of quality and patient experience,” said CMS Deputy Administrator and Chief Medical Officer Patrick Conway, M.D., MSc. “We hope patients and their families find this information helpful.”
