  • Monday, March 14, 2016
The Lee men's golf team is tied for ninth place in a field of 18 teams taking part in the first Federal Southeastern Collegiate being hosted by Valdosta State University at the Kinderlou Forest Club.

Gulf South Conference member West Florida is the tournament leader (291-282 – 573) after 36 holes of the 54-hole event. Florida Southern slipped to second (575). Lynn University is third (580) followed by St. Leo (581) and Barry University rounds out the top five (583).

Eighteen teams are taking part in the event and North Alabama (584) joins West Florida as the only GSC members leading the Flames (294-300 – 594).

Senior Taylor Davis continued his fine play for the Flames and is tied for 12th place in the medalist competition after rounds of 70-71 – 141.
West Florida's Talin Rajendranath (137) moved into the individual leadership after firing a 5-under 67 to go along with his opening round of 70.

"Taylor has played very good golf the last two days," remarked Lee head coach John Maupin. "He was especially impressive today. He played an almost flawless round."

Peyton Sliger followed Davis with a 74-77 – 151. Adam Wright was next (73-79 – 152). Corey Sheppard turned in the Lee score that counted on Monday (77) to go along with his opening round 76 (153). Shea Sylvester improved to 76 on Monday after carding a 78 on Sunday (154).

"We've got another chance to move up the leader board tomorrow against a very strong field," added Maupin. "We need to generate some momentum early and get five guys headed in the right direction. We all feel like we've got a great round coming soon, but we've got to make it happen by staying focused and not throwing away easy shots."
