Chattanooga State’s search for a new women’s head basketball coach has concluded following the selection of Stacey Franklin, former assistant coach at Kennesaw State University whose accomplishments included posting an “All-Time Most Wins” record this past season as well as seeing the team’s GPA average increase from 2.79 to 3.10 as its academic coordinator.

Coach Franklin assumed her new duties on July 1 and as the fall schedule gets underway, she is anxious to meet the challenge.

“The players are back and have been working out for a couple of weeks. We came in ready to get to work and are getting better each day,” she states.

Coach Franklin’s previous duties have included positions at Tennessee Tech University, the University of Alabama and the Mississippi State University. At TTU, she was instrumental in helping the team achieve its first Ohio Valley Conference Championship since 2002, while at MSU, her team boasted nine post-season appearances.

Doing her research prior to accepting the position at Chattanooga State, Ms. Franklin said, “Chattanooga State is a proven winner, both academically and athletically. The opportunity to be a part of the success and growth was very appealing to me. After meeting everyone on campus and seeing what makes Chattanooga State a special place, I knew right away I wanted to be a part it.”

Chattanooga State Basketball games for both men and women begin in November. For more information contact Joe Helseth, Athletic Director, at 423-697-2606.
