Hospice Of Chattanooga Awarded Accreditation

  • Monday, February 27, 2017

Hospice of Chattanooga has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Home Care Accreditation. “We are proud and excited, yet humbled to have our hospice care team receive such a public approval” said Tracy Wood, the agency’s new CEO. “More than anything, this accreditation gives comfort to families that when they choose Hospice of Chattanooga, the care their loved one receives will be of the highest quality.”

The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective care. According to a release from The Joint Commission, Hospice of Chattanooga underwent a rigorous onsite survey where compliance with hospice home care standards in every area were evaluated, including the provision of care, treatment and services, emergency management, human resources, individual rights and responsibilities, and leadership. The accreditation process also provided Hospice of Chattanooga with education and guidance to help staff continue to improve its performance.

Established in 1988, The Joint Commission’s Home Care Accreditation Program supports the efforts of its accredited organizations to help deliver safe, high quality care and services. More than 6,000 home care programs currently maintain accreditation, awarded for a three-year period, from The Joint Commission.

"When individuals engage a hospice home care provider they want to be sure that provider is capable of providing safe, quality care,” said Margherita Labson, RN, MS, executive director, Home Care Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. Accreditation by The Joint Commission serves as an indication that the organization has demonstrated compliance to these recognized standards of safe and quality care.”

Hospice of Chattanooga is this region’s only community-owned, not-for-profit hospice provider, having just celebrated 35 years of service in 2016. With 250 associates, Hospice of Chattanooga provides 5-Star care to patients in 18 counties in southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia.
