Amelia David Allen, 79, passed away at Memorial Hospital on April 24, 2017.

 

A lifetime Chattanooga resident, Amelia cherished her family, adored her friends and truly never met a stranger. She was a dedicated volunteer and leader at numerous organizations including B’nai Zion Congregation, the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga, Girls Inc., and Hadassah, where she was a past president and lifetime member. Her love for serving children of all needs in the community made her a lifelong supporter of Siskin Children’s Institute, where she served as president of Siskin Foundation Auxiliary, a founding member of Friends of Special Children, where she became an enthusiastic and vocal advocate for Signal Centers.

 

She was the beloved wife of Owen Allen.  She is survived by her brother, Manny (Ruth) David and her four children Stephen (Lisa) Lebovitz, Michael (Lauren) Lebovitz, Alan (Alison) Lebovitz and Beth Backer.

 

Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being Mimi to her 14 grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Abby, Julia, Baras, Eliza, Murray, Arthur, Abe and Levi Lebovitz and Miles, Sophie, Jonah and Laney Backer.

 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at B'nai Zion Congregation Cemetery, 605 Lullwater Road.
