The Chattanooga Lookouts capitalized on power hitting and spotless pitching to propel them to a 3-1 win over the Jackson Generals.

Chattanooga is now 73-38 on the season and hold the best record in all of Double-A Baseball. The first-place Lookouts lead second-place Montgomery by 7 1/2 games.

Starting pitcher Steven Gonsalves only surrendered four hits in 6 2/3 innings.

The ace now carries an ERA of 2.68 on the season and improves his record to 8-3.

Gonsalves has been incredibly consistent this season. Tonight was his 13th start. The game was his second scoreless outing and the second-consecutive game in which he’s pitched into the seventh inning.

In the second inning T.J. White got the Lookouts off to a fast start with a towering solo shot to left field. White has been essential to the special season Chattanooga is putting together. He was 2-for-2 tonight with a double, a homer, and two walks.

An inning later Nick Gordon smacked a long homer, his eighth of the year, for a 2-0 lead. The two run lead was enough for the win.

Gordon also stole his 13th base and drew a walk. He has five more homers than he’s ever hit in a season, and both his current On-Base-Percentage (.357) and slugging percentage (.431) represent career highs by a large margin.

Max Murphy also had a pair of hits.

Todd Van Steensel relieved Gonsalves in the seventh and threw a scoreless inning.

Down 3-0 in the ninth inning, the Generals faced Gabriel Moya for the first time since he was traded from Arizona to Minnesota. The lefty had not allowed an earned run since May 1st, in a game against Chattanooga, coming into the night. With one out in the frame, Michael Perez launched a 2-2 pitch over the fence in right field to get Jackson on the board. The last home run Moya allowed was April 18. It was the 19th save for Moya.
