McCallie Wins Front Runner Cross Country Championship

McCallie’s cross country team successfully defended their title at the 2018 Chattanooga Area Cross Country Championship sponsored by the Front Runner.  The victory was McCallie’s 4th consecutive Chattanooga Championship and marked the 9th in the past 10 years. 

McCallie scored a low 36 pts to finish first out of 28 local teams and placed 5 runners among the top 10 finishers.  McCallie was led by Samuel Ligon in 4th place who covered the 5K course in 16:23.  He was followed by teammate Dylan Zeller in 5th with a time of 16:33.  McCallie’s next 3 runners packed together in 8th, 9th and 10th.  John Arrowsmith  17:01, Dawson Carmack 17:02 and Benjamin Niehause in 17:03.  Duke Richey (12th) and Raif Gork (29th) completed McCallie’s top 7 varsity athletes. 

McCallie’s JV dominated with 6 athletes in the top 10 and 9 in the top 15 to win the JV Championship.  McCallie has now swept the “running store” championship by winning the Fast Break Challenge last week and the Front Runner Championship on Thursday.  McCallie’s next race will be the TSSAA State Championship on November 3rd in Nashville.  McCallie has won 5 State Championships in Cross Country.

In the boys race, CCS was second, the Chattanooga Patriots were third. 

The Baylor girls won the girls race with Chattanooga Patriots second and Signal Mountain third.
