Berneace Carnahan
Berneace Halfacre Carnahan, 87, of Ooltewah, was born on July 15, 1931, in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee, and passed away on October 24, 2018, at her residence.
She was the daughter to the late William Lane and Darcus Flatt Halfacre. Berneace was also preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Ms. Carnahan had been a member of the Church of Christ since she was 15 and was a member of Tyner Church of Christ at the time of her death.
She was a graduate of Dupont High School in Old Hickory, Tn., and went on to receive her degree at Falls Business College in Nashville. Berneace married Bob Carnahan in 1951 and they later moved to Ooltewah from Atlanta in 1969. She retired from Savannah Valley Utility District in 1996 after 27 years of service and was hospitality supervisor at Captain D’s in Ooltewah for seven years until 2013.
Survivors include her two sons, Bruce (Susan) Carnahan and Stanley Carnahan of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Skyla Carnahan (Benji) Herod, Katie Carnahan, Lori (Judd) Caldwell; grandson, Barrett Carnahan; five great-grandchildren.
A celebration service will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Minister Steve Blackman officiating.
Interment will be at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, in Mt. Juliet, Tn., at 12 p.m. C.S.T. on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
