Jean Louise Oakley
Jean Louise Oakley, age 77, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018.
She was born Oct. 25, 1941, in Wilmington, De., the daughter of the late Richard G. and Margaret M. Fluke.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lawrence A. Oakley III; daughter, Lynne Oakley Manley of Dalton; son, Christopher L. Oakley (Heather) of Jacksonville, Fl.; grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Fisher (Matthew) of Acworth, Ga., Eric L. Manley (Betsy) of Marietta, Ga., Caroline K. Oakley of Jacksonville Beach, Fl., and L. Alexander Oakley IV of Jacksonville, Fl.; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Libby Fisher, and Victor and Eliana Manley; and sisters, Nancy Varga and Becky Doran.
Jean enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards, and feeding the neighborhood birds. She had an extensive collection of teddy bears and played the flute. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. She had a gift for creating a warm and inviting home. Holidays were particularly special thanks to her festive décor and tablescapes. If you knew Jean, you’ll fondly recall her infectious laugh.
A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 12:30-2 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home, 1402 North Thornton Ave., Dalton, Georgia.
