Walker County Animal Shelter Hosts Christmas Adoption Event On Saturday

  • Thursday, December 13, 2018

Families thinking about adding a pet as a holiday gift are encouraged to drop by the Walker County Animal Shelter this Saturday for a special Christmas Adoption Event between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. In addition to extended hours, the shelter will offer discounted adoption pricing on Saturday.

Dogs will be $25, while cats will be $15.  Regular adoption fees run $65 for dogs and $30 for cats.  Animals adopted from the Walker County Animal Shelter will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated for rabies at no additional charge.

Community members are encouraged to drop by the shelter throughout the day for a host of fun activities, including police K9 demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. to Noon and pictures with Santa from Noon until 4:00 p.m.  Visitors are also invited to tour the shelter during the event, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or coffee and register for a host of door prizes.

Visitors who are not sure if they want to adopt, but know they want to help the pet population, can take a donation with them. The shelter always needs bleach, blankets, puppy food, canned foot, treats and toys.

The Walker County Animal Shelter is at 5488 North Marble Top Road near Chickamauga.  For more information, call 706 375-2100 or visit them on facebook.
