John Edward Mills, 79, of Ringgold, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. Mr. Mills was a resident of the North Georgia area for over 30 years, and was of the Baptist faith. He is a veteran of the Navy, and retired from the Civil Service, where he constructed ships, and submarines.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Julia Mills; his father, Weldon Mills; mother, Kate Mills; and brother, Wayne Mills.
He is survived by his children, Edward B. Mills, Timothy W. (Rena) Mills, Jennifer F. (Brad) Anderson, Teresa A. Mills, Eric B. Mills, James V. (Sharmelia) Pinet, Aharon Mills, Jocelyn M.ills and Ethan Mills; one sister, Erma Wilson; brothers, Ray Mills and Tommy Mills; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Dalton Holiness Church in Dalton on Friday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m., with Bro. Edward Atchley officiating. A burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 2-9 p.m. at Dalton Holiness Church.
