Employees of The Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District have a strong history of community involvement and charitable giving. This year is no exception. Throughout the year, telecommunicators become involved in many different fundraisers. During the holiday season, they step into high gear, opting to support the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, the Forgotten Child Fund, and the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree program.”
Each year, Hamilton County 911 organizes an internal food drive competition among all employees during the month of November.
The Annual Food Drive collected food and monetary donations equivalent to 1,572 pounds of food which will provide 17,186 meals to area residents through the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
911 employees revealed their continued spirit of giving during their annual toy drive and fundraiser for “The Forgotten Child Fund.” Along with four barrels of toys, this year’s monetary donations were a record high for the agency … coming in at $2,715.00. Hamilton County 91-1 also sponsored 14 Angels from the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” program.
“The district and the citizens of Hamilton County are very fortunate to have such a caring and professional team working for them,” said John Stuermer, executive director for Hamilton County Emergency Communications District. “They continue to amaze me with their compassion, not only dealing with citizens calling for help in their time of crisis but also in their willingness to helping those that are less fortunate."
