Dale Conrad “Rusty” Phillips passed away peacefully at a local area hospital on December 21, 2018.  Rusty went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 74 years. 

He was born in Franklin, In., on Oct. 23, 1944.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Ann Phillips.  He is lovingly remembered by his son, Jeff Phillips (Kathy) and their children, Kaitlyn and Austin of Greenville, S.C., daughter, Ellyce Cone (Michael) and their children, Garret, Emaleigh, and Victoria of Auburn, Ga., and daughter, Robyn Mahoney (James) and their children, Lacey, Abigail, and James of Chattanooga. Other mourners include brothers, John Phillips (Stephanie) of Houston, and Brent Phillips (Sharon) of Allen, Tx., and sisters, Rae Straw (Dean) of Carrollton, Tx., and Molly Smith of Splendora, Tx., as well as several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Harriett Phillips.

Rusty was born at Camp Atterbury Base Hospital and lived in Franklin, IN.  Following his father’s graduation from Purdue University, the family moved to Houston. Rusty graduated from Bellaire High School in 1962 and from Texas A & I University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree.  He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.  He married Elizabeth Ann Calvez in December of 1965.  Throughout his real estate career, he was most proud of his appointment as vice president at both Burger King and CBL. Rusty was employed with CBL for 22 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast. Civic activities and achievements include the Knights of Columbus, where he achieved 4th Degree status in 1995, and serving on the Catholic Charities Board, the SERRA club, and the Parish Council. He was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

The family appreciates the compassionate care provided by the CVICU staff at Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church Parish Hall on Thursday, Jan. 3, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. with Father Manuel Perez officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 10 a.m. reception to follow in the parish hall. A private burial service to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities and St. Stephen Catholic Church or the SERRA Club.
