Siskin Hospital announces that Kyle Binkley, DPT, Cert. MDT, has completed the requirements for the McKenzie Certification.
Dr. Binkley is a physical therapist in Siskin Hospital’s East Brainerd Outpatient Therapy Services clinic.
"The McKenzie Method of orthopedic physical therapy is one of the pre-eminent approaches to addressing musculoskeletal care," officials said. "This method has been around for 70 years and is supported by a large body of evidence-based research. It is taught in physical therapy programs, but few therapists gain the distinction of certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment."
To be eligible to sit for the exam, Dr. Binkley had to first complete four three-day courses. The exam itself involves a three-hour written portion and then a practical lab where candidates must successfully perform manual hands-on techniques on a faculty instructor while another instructor observes for competence. Ongoing training is required to maintain proficiency.
"This credential, awarded by The McKenzie Institute USA, will help many of our patients with their pain and dysfunctions," officials said.
