Owens Returns From Mission For The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

  • Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Harrison Owens, son of Dr. Gene and Terri Owens of Ringgold, returned to the North Georgia area from serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Elder Owens served in the Nevada Las Vegas mission, and in other surrounding cities such as Henderson, Nv.; Parker, Az.; and Boulder City, Co.

Mr. Owens is a graduate of Ringgold High School, where he played in the marching band for four years.  He says that the time he served in Las Vegas meant a lot to him and changed his life. Like the more than 70,000 full-time missionaries serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Owens dedicated full-time service to teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and baptizing believers.

Mr. Owens said that the one thing he enjoyed most was teaching people about Jesus Christ.  “Because of Jesus Christ, there’s always hope, even in the darkest place.  There’s always a way back home, and that’s the most beautiful truth in the world. We just have to open our eyes and behold the light of Christ, and follow in His footsteps,” he said.

Sharing the good news and glad tidings of this message is why Mr. Owens says he served a mission.

This fall Mr. Owens will leave to go to BYU-Idaho, in Rexburg, Id. to study animation.  He wants to make his own shows about heroes to motivate people to become their best selves.
