McCallie Cross Country Team Takes 5th At Chickasaw Trails Race

McCallie opened its 2018 campaign with a fifth place finish and just 4 points out of 3rd at the Chickasaw Trails Cross Country Invitational in Decatur, Ala.

McCallie competed in the large school division which featured 39 teams and included top teams from Alabama along with outstanding programs from Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia.

 McCallie was led by Junior Samuel Ligon who covered the 5K course in 16:30.  He was followed by a pack of McCallie athletes - sophomore Benjamnin Niehause in 16:58, and juniors John Arrowsmith and Duke Richey in 17:04 and Dylan Zeller in 17:23.

McCallie’s varsity will compete next at the WingFoot Invitational in Cartersville, Ga., on Sept. 22.  WingFoot features the top runners and teams from the Southeast.

 McCallie will host the McCallie XC Invitational on Sept. 29 at Moccasin Bend.
