Joyce Juanita Blaylock, 69, of New Salem, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019. She was born March 17, 1950 in Mentone, Al. to the late William and Ruth Flannigan.
Survivors include her loving family; husband, Jim Blaylock; daughters, Heather (Raymond) Evans and Katherine (Trippe) York; sons, Jay (Candace) and Charles (Teresa) Blaylock; grandchildren, Levi and Autumn Hulgan, Brittney, Cody, Alisa and Dylan Blaylock, Garrett and Bryson, Blaylock, Sarah and Hannah York; great-grandchildren, Hadley Gregory, Harper Gregory and Sophie Hulgan; sisters, Charlotte (Sherman) Flannigan Goss and Virginia (Jeff) Flannigan Morris; brother, Mack (Debbie) Flannigan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Joyce was a long-time active member of New Salem Baptist Church and America Legion Post #106 ladies auxiliary. She loved the Lord and enjoyed witnessing to those she came in contact with. She loved to cook for her family and friends, enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with family and was a huge Alabama fan. Joyce was known by some as the “Iris Lady,” and could identify over 500 different kinds of iris.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 at New Salem Baptist Church, with Brother Jim Hixson and Brother Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Hawkins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home and on Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church.
