SFC Larry Earl “Mook” Moore, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2019.
He graduated from Chattanooga High School, class of 1973. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was recalled to active duty to serve during the Gulf War Conflict. For 20+ years of service he achieved the rank of E-7 (Sergeant First Class). He was a member of Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. Larry retired from Moccasin Bend of 18 years and the United States Army Reserves after 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Cook; parents, Hammond and Florence Moore, Jr. and George Berry; sisters, Fannie Moore Burwell and Wilma Deane Moore Akridge; and brother, Kelly Crutcher. Survivors include his loving and devoted daughters, DeQuea (Salah) Moore-
Whisnant of Clarksville, TN and Chenefah (Kymma) Moore of Chattanooga; sons, Terrance (Brenda) Cook of Lexington, KY and Larry Watson of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a devoted friend and caregiver, Joanne Rowlee of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Carolyn Dandy and Rosemary (Cleophus) Heard, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Charles (Rebell) Moore of Decatur, AL and Kenneth Moore of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; a host family and friends.
He will lie in state on Monday, Feb. 25, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be at 11 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Jeffery Jefferson, eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
