Virgil Powell
Virgil F. Powell, 87, of Hixson, died on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
He was born August 8, 1931 in Cottonwood, Arizona to the late Virgil John and Ima Vivian Powell. He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he adored, Joyce J. Powell. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather.
Mr. Powell was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He worked in the Apollo Space Program for Chrysler. He retired from TVA, where he was a mechanical engineer in construction and testing. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Stacy) Powell; granddaughter, Jessica (fiancée, Jordan Foutch) Powell
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel with Reverend Braxton Cotton officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 1.
