Geneva Strickland
Geneva Hale Strickland, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, in a local hospital.
She retired from Provident Insurance Company. She was a faithful and committed member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Geneva was a member of the Someone To Care Ministry, sang in the choir, an Intercessory Prayer Leader, and a member of the Sunday School Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lena Hale; sisters, Mary Hale, Bernice Montgomery, and Emma Hale; husband, Harold C. Strickland, Jr.; sons, Harold C. Strickland, III and Herbert Strickland.
Survivors include her sons, Alonzo (Tracy) Strickland of Chattanooga, and James Strickland, of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Deborah Wilson, Genella Strickland, Valorie Hughley, all of Chattanooga, Brenda Avery of Atlanta, GA, and Audrey Cunningham of Akron, OH; 13 grandchildren, Corey, Pagedi, Dinky, Cedrick, Neshay, Meco, Reginald, Quintana, Taylor, Arielle, Cordalro, Landon, and Tralon; a host of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; devoted nephews, Kenneth, Lebron, Myron; several nieces; other nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Friday, April 19, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Samuel Jackson as the eulogist.
Burial will be on Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
