Athlete During High School Years And Retired From Gold Bond

Mildred Shipley Vandergriff,  of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019, on her 91st birthday.

Mildred was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area.  She was very athletic in her younger years with Red Bank High School where she was a cheerleader, played basketball and softball.  Mildred retired from Gold Bond.  She was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vandergriff; her son, Danny Vandergriff.

Mildred is survived by her children, Mel and wife Angie Vandergriff and Pam Vandergriff.    

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. 

A Celebration of Life service for Mildred will follow at 11:30 am on Thursday at the North Chapel with her Pastor Ed Snodgrass officiating.  Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
