Corbin, William Price "Bill" (LaFayette)
William Price “Bill” Corbin, 89, of Lafayette, passed away on April 18, 2019.
He was born in Carters, Ga. on August 8, 1929, the fifth child of John and Lillie (White) Corbin (both departed). He was married to Gaynell Dobbins (departed July 2, 1992) in Lakeview, Ga. on Dec. 16, 1950. He was also married to Martha Crawford (departed Dec. 15, 2013) in Rossville on Nov. 25, 1992.
He was preceded in death by son, William Eugene “Billy” Corbin; siblings, Odell Corbin Whaley, Joe, Stella, Donald, Houston Wayne, John Paul and Shirley Corbin Stephens.
Surviving are siblings, James Delano, George Max (Carol), Ira Delmar (Mary), Mary Dobbins Headrick and Ann Dobbins Corbin (sisters-in-law); daughter, Mary Ann Gordon; granddaughter, Jessica Gordon McMasters (Chris Smith); great-granddaughters, Ainsley Autumn, Camden Greer, Paige Kasan McMasters and Dylan Aria Rose Smith.
Graduated Rossville High School class of 1947. Last surviving member of Agape Bible Institute of Lafayette. Licensed Baptist preacher, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, since 1978. Served as a DASH helicopter mechanic, AC/R technician and certified diesel inspector. Respected mechanics instructor, both diesel and gasoline, civilian and military for over 30 years. Retired from the United States Navy in August 1976 as an engineman chief. Bill was a life member of the Fleet Reserve Association and also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign War.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 23 at 1 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Randy Chestnutt officiating. A burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South. The family will receive friends on Monday April 22 from 2-8 p.m. in the parlor of the funeral home.
