Russell Battle
Russell Alexander Battle, was born on October 12, 1948, and died on April 23, 2019.
He was a 1966 graduate of Riverside High School. He served in the United States Army and received a medical discharge. He resided in Newark, N.J. and retired in 2013.
He was a born again Christian and a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church of Red Bank, NJ, where he served and worshipped faithfully until his illness. He was an avid roller skater and dancer.
Russell leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Edith Roach Battle; sons, Klongi and Kyrie of New Jersey; brother, Leon (Barbara) Merritt, James Merritt, Sr., and Seabron (Mickey) Battle; sisters, LaFredia Merritt, Deborah Hampton, and Cynthia Merritt; special aunt, Elma Ruth Lockhart; uncles, Oscar Lockhart, Sr., Theodis Lampley, Leroy Keith; several nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, James Sanderfur, Lee Merrell and Herman Prater.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Red Bank, NJ.
