Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Crews will continue surveying and spotting utilities at various locations throughout the interchange. Shoulders may be closed at these locations between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The contractor may have temporary nighttime lane closures throughout the project on Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Additionally, a hauling operation will be taking place requiring a single left lane closure on I-75 SB at MM 2 and a single left lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185. These lane closures will occur the following nights: Thursday between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the interstate at these locations.  [C.W. US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed. This closure will be in place until further notice. Additionally, the southbound ramp from W. Main St.to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. Detours for closures will be posted. SR-111 Bridge repair over SR-29 (US-27): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed in each direction of SR-111 while performing bridge repairs. The contractor will also be closing one lane in each direction on SR-29 as it passes under SR-111. One lane in each direction shall remain open at all times.  Estimated project completion date is October. [Mid-State Construction Company, Inc. /Chattanooga 2922/CNT096] 

SR-148 (Scenic Highway) Slide repair between LM 2.3 (Sanders Road) and LM 2.5 (Linear Lane): During this report period the contractor will have one lane closed while they perform stabilization operations to the slide area. One lane of traffic shall remain open at all times. Estimated project completion date is June. [Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc. /Chattanooga 2922/CNT152] 

SR-58 Miscellaneous safety improvements at the intersection of SR-312 (Birchwood Pike) (LM 15.70): The contractor will be completing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR-58 and Birchwood Pike Monday thru Saturday between 5 a.m.-6 p.m. No southbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 5-9 a.m. No northbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 3-6 p.m. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Police Charge Jason Ansley In Wreck On Main Street In Which 9-Year-Old Boy Was Killed; Going 62 MPH In 35 MPH Zone

Chattanooga Police have arrested 38-year-old Jason Ansley in a June 7 wreck on Main Street in which 9-year-old Liam Haddock was killed and two other family members injured.
