John David Toon, 67, passed away on June 24, 2019, at Signature Health Care, South Pittsburgh, TN.
He was the son of the late James G. Toon and Vasso Blackman Toon.
He is survived by his brother, James Leslie Toon (Ruth) of Powell’s Crossroads, TN., nieces, Miller Foutch (Nathan) of Knoxville TN. and Becca Brown (Kevin) of Baxter, TN., and grandnieces and nephew, Abby, Harper, Sam, Maggie and Amelia.
David was born in Huntsville, Al. on November 19, 1951 and grew up in Morristown, TN. While in High School at Morristown East he was co-captain of the football team that won the 1969 state Championship. David attended Anderson College, Anderson Indiana and ETSU. He lived most of his adult life in Huntsville, TN.
David was an advocate for individuals with mental iIllness throughout his adult life as a member of N.A.M.I. (National Alliance on Mental Illness). David attended the Church of God, headquarters in Anderson, Indiana.
The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Health Care for their compassion and care the last five years.
