April Alonzo-May
April Alonzo-May passed away May 30th, 2019 at her home in Hixson, TN. April was born in Upland, Ca March 25,1993. Always in a hurry, she was due to be born in April but came a little early. She hated her name until she married Brandon and became "April May", the coolest name ever!
April resided in California until we moved to Frisco, Texas (03,04), stopped back a year in California (05/06), moved on to Brentwood, Tennessee for eight years, headed to Arizona (13-16) before returning to Tennessee in 2016.
She met and married Brandon May and finally loved her name "April May". They purchased a home in 2017 in Hixson. April was one of the first female wrestlers at Woodland Middle as well as Brentwood High. She also played soccer for many years.
April suffered with severe mental illness for 13 years and tried everything she could to see the light, but the darkness became too much in the end. She shared her pain and struggles in an NPT special in 2009 and online on the Brentwood Home Page.
April attended Calvary Chapel Brentwood Youth Group and Grace Chapel and Calvary Chapel Tucson youth group. She loved her family and friends fiercely. April was a collector of strays and older animals. She wanted to make sure they could have a great life. April was funny, sweet, kind, generous, and honest (outside social norms haha)
She is survived by her husband Brandon May, her parents Richard and Naomi Alonzo, her sisters Amanda (Kevin) Sitcer, Ericka Alonzo, Megan (Josh) Yee and her nephews Bradley and Nehemiah. Sam and Marsha May (papa and mama). She is playing Magic with her nephew Abram now. GO A TEAM!
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 prior to the service at the funeral home.
A memorial service for April May will be held at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Orange County on Saturday, June 22, at 11 am. Refreshments to follow.
