Cleveland City Schools announces that Renny Whittenbarger, supervisor of Career & Technical Education at Cleveland City Schools, has been named president of the Tennessee Directors of Career Technical Education.
Mr. Whittenbarger taught engineering classes at Cleveland High School for 15 years before becoming the CTE Supervisor in 2012. As a representative for all public schools in Tennessee, Mr. Whittenbarger will travel to Washington D.C. in August with Tennessee Department of Education representatives and attend the Advance CTE forum.
Dr.
Jeff Elliott, chief academic officer, said, "It is an honor and privilege to work with Renny Whittenbarger in Cleveland City Schools on a regular basis. His strong CTE knowledge, visionary thinking and passion for student success has proven itself time and time again. It is no surprise that others across the state have recognized his qualities and called upon him to serve as the president of the Tennessee Directors of Career Technical Education. He will be an excellent ambassador for our state."
As a nonprofit organization, the objective of the Tennessee Directors of Career Technical Education is the promotion and development of career technical education in the public elementary and secondary school systems of Tennessee, officials said.
