James Marshall Phillips, Sr., 85, of Hixson, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late B.F. (Skeet) Phillips and Geneva Cooper Phillips and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald B. Phillips and Billy Joe Phillips.

Survivors include his wife Audeline Harper Phillips of 68 years; daughter, Joan Alice (Tom) Eldredge; sons, James M. Phillips, Jr., and Peter H. (Mary) Phillips; sister, Binnie Beigh of Portland, OR; granddaughter, Rebecca Neil (Eldredge) Doxsee (Mitchell Doxsee); great grandsons Luke and Clinton Doxsee; granddaughter, Sarah Marie (Eldredge) Blaisdell; great-grandson, Isaac Thomas Blaisdell; Alice Jane (Eldredge) Clayton (Andy Clayton); great-granddaughter Autumn Clayton; great-grandson Arlen Clayton; grandsons, James M. Phillips, III of Seattle, WA and Matthew Kyle Philips of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Jordan (Phillips) Barrows (Zack); great-grandson, Nolan Pickett; grandson, Stephen Tyler Phillips of Statesboro, GA; step granddaughters, Shelley Baxter, Nicole Baxter and Autumn Rose; godson, Kenneth Barnett; several nieces and nephews.

James was an electrician at Vandenberg Air Force Base then moved back to Chattanooga where he worked with various contractors as an electrician.  He retired from IBEW Local # 413 in Santa Barbara, California.

He was a 50-year member of Shrine Club and Chattanooga Scottish Rite, he started Clean Sweep in 1984 which is still in business today, 70-year member of Hixson United Methodist Church, member of Hixson Chapter #310 Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Patron in 1975, he was a charter member of Black Creek Golf Club where he was affectionally called Stud Puppy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, July 22, from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday, July 23, from 12:30–2 p.m. at the funeral home.
