Carl Roberson

After a lengthy illness, the Lord guided Carl “Banks” Raymond Roberson to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

Banks (as everyone knew him as) was 87 and lived in Jasper, Tn., with his wife of 60 years, Janice Layne Roberson. Banks was born on Nov. 1, 1932, to Claude and Lillie Roberson. He was a lifetime resident of Marion County, Tn. Banks had been employed with Serodino, Inc. in Guild, Tn. for over 45+ years as a painter and a “jack of all trades” for this company.

Banks was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His family was his life.  You never saw him without a smile and his Marion County Purple Warrior hat.    Banks loved all sports especially when the Marion County Warriors were playing.   He had wished for a boy however God saw that he needed three daughters.   Banks was blessed with his first grandson, Ricky whom he followed to watch him play baseball anywhere he traveled.  He was an avid coon hunter and loved being in the great outdoors.  Banks was a simple and honest man whom everyone loved.  Those that were in his life will miss Banks and he leaves an emptiness in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lillie Payne Roberson; great-grandson, Beau Oliver Gilliam; brothers, Richard Roberson, Babe Ruth Roberson and Luke Roberson and sister, Violet Lingerfelt.

Those left to cherish Banks memories are his wife, Janice Layne Roberson; daughters, Karen Colbert, Daphne Roberson and Carlene (Rick) McGowan; brothers, Cecil (Linda) Roberson; sisters, Katherine Roberson, Myrtle Tate and Frankie Ross; grandchildren, Ricky (Sheldon) McGowan, Shonda McGowan, and Erin (Steven) Gilliam; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kylee and Brynlee McGowan, Alannah Robinson and Indy Jude Gilliam, whom is to make his appearance on his great-grandfather’s birthday on November 1, 2020 and special friends, Gary Hardy, Tommy “Click” Quick and Ken Colquette.  He leaves also brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and loving friends.

The family will have visitation on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 2-4 p.m. CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.

The graveside service will be held following the visitation at 4:30 p.m. CST at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating.

Pallbearers will be Rick McGowan, Ricky McGowan, Will Wooten, Johnny Holtcamp, Gary Hardy and Roger Lawson.

Funeral arrangements are by Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tn. 37347, 423 942-9500.
