The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council and Hamilton County Government encourage all veterans and their family members to vote early and have designated Friday as “Veterans Vote Early Day.”
Early voting began Wednesday, Oct. 14 and will continue through Thursday, Oct. 29, with Election Day voting occurring on Nov. 3.
“Early Voting = Accessible Voting” and allows voters to safely exercise their rights and responsibilities, promoting social distancing in a less concentrated voting process, officials said.
With the historic 71st Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, the day has been designated as “Veterans Vote Early Day.”
Officials said, "The annual parade serves as a reminder that one of our greatest freedoms as citizens in a republic is the privilege to elect our leaders at the local, state and national level, an opportunity enjoyed by few people across the globe.
"Beginning with our fight for independence in the American Revolution until today as the members of our armed forces continue to serve around the world, our veterans have paid greatly for that right to participate in a free election process. The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council, representing more than 25,000 veterans across the Tennessee Valley, urges you to encourage the veterans in your family and community to vote on Friday."
