Longtime Member Of Hixson First Baptist Church Volunteered At Erlanger For 25 Years

Mildred Helen Stanford Snyder, 86, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020.

 

She was born in Loretta, Tn., on Dec. 14, 1933, to Mary and Jessie Stanford. She later moved to Chattanooga where she met and married Jackie Snyder. They have been married for 62 years and have two children, Eric (Gigi) Snyder and Joan Lamar.

 

Mildred was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a member of Lake Tansi RV Park for 20 years and loved spending summers there with friends and family. She also volunteered at Erlanger Hospital Gift Shop for 25 years.  She was an amazing cook, avid book reader, loved to play card games, and always made everyone laugh with her constant jokes and pranks!

 

She is survived by her husband, Jackie Snyder of Soddy Daisy; son, Eric (Gigi) Snyder of Clarksville, Tn., and daughter, Joan Lamar of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren: Jay (Victoria) Snyder, Ginger (Allen) Miracle, Courtney (Ben) Neighbors, and Chandler Lamar; great-grandchildren, Allie Miracle, Jaxson Neighbors, Elijah Snyder, and soon to be Brycen Neighbors; sisters, Mable Narramore, Geneva (Horace) Bailey, and Brother Jimmy (Judy) Stanford; special (family) friends, David, Judy, Ben, and Sarah Solovey. As well as many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

 

She was preceded in death by parents, Mary and Jessie Stanford; infant son, Quinton Snyder; brothers, Otho Stanford, Elwood Stanford, and Pete Stanford; and sisters, Elsie Dollar, Estelle Baggett and Agnes Mitchell.

 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, at Hixson First Baptist Church, 5800 Grubb Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

 

A Celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hixson First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Granger and Reverend Terry Shannon officiating.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.   

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred’s name to Hixson First Baptist Church and or Holiday out RV Park at Lake Tansi, church fund, 182 Comanche Trail, Crossville, Tn. 38572.
