Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County: 

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Phase 1 traffic shifts have been implemented. Traffic should expect multiple lane shifts traveling through the interchange. Lane closures will occur Sunday nights through Thursdays nights between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. at the following locations: I-75 NB at state line, I-75 NB MM 2, I-75 SB MM 3, I-24 EB MM 184, and I-24 WB MM 185. Traffic pacing will also occur for I-75 NB, I-75 SB, and I-24 EB. Additionally, there may intermittent shoulder closures at various locations for access to the median and roadside areas. US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: On US-27 from I-24 to Manufacturers Road northbound and southbound lane closures will be in effect between Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 6 a.m. for litter pickup. Rolling lane closures will be in place on US-27 from I-24 to Manufacturers Road in the northbound and southbound lanes between Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. for street sweeping operations. Between Monday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday 6 a.m., and Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 6 a.m., westbound Martin Luther King Blvd will be temporarily closed from Pine Street to Gateway Avenue for bridge operations. During this time, Westbound MLK Access to South US 27 will be blocked. Traffic will be detoured to Carter Street to West 12th Street to US-27 Access Ramp. The Westbound MLK access to North US-27 will not be affected. Between Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 6 a.m., eastbound Martin Luther King Boulevard will be temporarily closed from Pine Street to Gateway Avenue for bridge operations. During this time, eastbound MLK Access to North US-27 will be blocked. Traffic will be detoured to Gateway Avenue to West 6th Street to North Chestnut Street to West 4th Street to US-27 North on-ramp. The eastbound MLK access to South US-27 will not be affected. Exit 1B from southbound US-27 to eastbound MLK will be closed. Traffic will be detoured using southbound US-27 Exit 1C to West 4th Street to Broad St to eastbound MLK. State Troopers will be onsite during lane closures. Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. The southbound ramp from W. Main St. to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th St Off Ramp: No oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1C 4th St Of Ramp: On oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1B East Martin Luther King Blvd. Off Ramp: No oversized/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound On Ramps from Martin Luther King Blvd: No oversized/over dimensional loads. [Dement Construction Company, LLC/Micka/CNP230]

Utility Work on SR-153 (State Highway 153) in both directions from LM 8.25 to LM 9.33: Nighttime shoulder and sidewalk closures will occur at Hwy 153 and Hamill Road. Signage, traffic drums, and cones will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area, be aware of personnel and equipment. 11 p.m.-5 a.m. through Thursday. 

Utility Work on SR-317 (Bonny Oaks Drive) in both directions from LM 4.20 to LM 0.63: Mobile lane closures will occur on Bonny Oaks Drive. Signage, cones, and flaggers will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area and be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. through Wednesday.

Utility Work on SR-319 (Hixson Pike) eastbound from LM 9.89 to LM 9.89: A single lane closure of the eastbound lane will occur between Gold Point Lane and Hideaway Lane. Arrow board, signage and cones will be present. Motorists should use caution through the area, be aware of personnel and equipment. 9 a,.m.-2 p.m. through Wednesday.

On Friday at 8 p.m. Monday at 6 a.m. Vulcan Materials Company will be repairing concrete pavement on I-24 WB from MM 178.9 to MM 178.7 in lane #1 (left lane). They will be removing and repairing concrete pavement. From Friday night through Monday morning the I-24 WB lane #1 will be closed. I-24 WB lane #2 and the Williams St on-ramp to I-24 WB will remain open to traffic. The lanes will be opened back up to traffic no later than 6 a.m. on Monday.
