Evelyn Weddington
Evelyn Weddington was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Shelly Sexton on January 26, 1942, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Robert Weddington; daughter, Shirley; son, Reginald; sisters, Doris, Mildred, and Gloria, lovingly known as Aunt Teddy; brothers, Harold and Harry.
Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. One day God called her one of his own and she united with the Alton Park Church of Christ. She served faithfully for years and loved to sing until she and the Lord decided to unite with her son, Reverend Roderick Weddington at John Mark Baptist Church. Later on, she moved her membership to St. Joseph Pleasant Baptist Church, where she again served faithfully until Jesus showed up on Thursday, May 28, 2020, and said, "Well done my good and faithful servant, mission completed." She was 77 years old.
She gave life to so many, as did Jesus. What a sacrifice of love despite her condition. Her final show of Love is reminding us that he is still on the throne.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter, Jackie; sons, Brian (Angie), Roderick (Belisser), Jason (Demetria), Blial (Quatta); sister, Carolyn Sexton Dupree; brother, Thomas Sexton; 15 granddaughters, four grandsons, and 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.
A visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4. A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Forest Hills.
Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
