Charles George Laws, 77, of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Clarksville, Tn. to the late Loy Earl Laws and Earline Hughes Laws. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He became a Professor of Mathematics and taught at Tennessee Tech, UT Knoxville, and Cleveland State Community College with a career lasting over 40 years. He was a devoted Christian from the age of 13 and loved our Lord with all of his heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family, rescuing animals, writing for Good News Christian Magazine, teaching Bible Study, short road trips, train rides and pier fishing in the Outer Banks. He also loved to play chess and had won many tournaments. Charles was loved and adored by his family and all who knew him and will be truly missed.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Ramona Jeanne Laws. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce Laws; and one grandchild, Heather Francel.

He is survived by two children, Shirley Jeanne Fink of Jacksonville, N.C., and Dale Kramer of Jacksonville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Matthew Fink of Centreville, Va., Aaron Fink of New Port Richey, Fl., Andrew Fink of Los Angeles, Ca., and Mason Fink of Jacksonville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Daisy Fink and Noah Fink of Fairfax, Va., and Jacob Francel of San Diego, Ca.; brother, Donald Laws (Maria) of Clarksville, Tn., and his Bobcat Tigger.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor B.J. Miller and Reverend David O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Matthew Fink, Aaron Fink, Andrew Fink, Mason Fink, Josh Douden, and Nathan Napier serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice for their compassionate care during this time.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday.
