Despite a power failure amidst the Southern Nationals mini series event at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, local racer Cory Hedgecock (# 23) of Loudon worked past early race leader Ross Bailes for the $3,500 victory Tuesday night.
Hedgecock had a tough go of it as Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga. showed his muscles coming from seventh to challenge the leader. Hedgecock, Chris Madden and Overton finished again in the Top 3, from Monday's show North of Knoxville at Volunteer Speedway, just in different places.
The series moves to South Georgia Thursday after a day of rest before the weekends three events at Senoia, Screven and Cochran tracks.
Cleveland's second generation Ownbey (Hayden - #H0) got his third win of the season at I-75 Tuesday in the Sportsman division over Knoxville's Zach Sise.
In Wisconsin Tuesday the World of Outlaws Late Model series took to the Gondik Law Speedway for a mid-week $10,000 to-Win special event. Brandon Sheppard of Illinois won his fourth consecutive series race over Louisiana's Cade Dillard and visiting Jimmy Owens of Tennessee, who's Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model tour is dormant til Friday night.
On the Hell Tour, "TerbO" Tyler Erb ( # 1) of Texas pocketed the $5,000 Summer Nationals event at the Plymouth (IN) Speedway in his Best Motorsports entry. Florida's Kyle Bronson joined the tour, he was 5th overall Tuesday night. The Summer Nationals tour moves to Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Il. on Thursday.
