Daisy Mickel Housley, 96, of Chattanooga, received her wings on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 24, 1924, in Rhea County, to the late Sam and Nannie (Rice) Mickel. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and the Lord. She always loved to share what she had with others who were special to her whether it was her love, companionship, vegetables from her garden or even homemade items. As said in: 2 Corinthians 9: 6-7, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”  That’s exactly who she was, Daisy truly lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures; loving and caring for her family. She worked hard her whole life; farming, Davenport Hosiery Mill, wife, mother and gardener. She drove a bus for Bethel Bible Village on Signal Mountain and later drove for field trips; not only for Hamilton County Schools but surrounding area school systems. She had the opportunity to take a bus load of diplomats to the Chattanooga Airport to hear President George H.W. Bush speak. She eventually became an employee of the Coca-Cola Company for the transportation of every fifth – grader in Hamilton County to come tour the plant until her retirement in 2003.

She was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Clyde Housley, along with four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include son, Sonny Housley, daughter, Judy (Gary) Franks, grandchildren, Robert Franks, April Franks, John Housley, and Gina Franks, great – grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Tacoma and Montana Franks, Alex Gramatikos, and Mason Clark, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga, especially her two nurses, Mallory and Marty.

Visitation will be at Lane Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 5-8 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423877-3524,  lanefh.com.
