DeNeese Arletta Fields-Howse transitioned from this world to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 14, 2021, after a long illness.
 
Born on October 24, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Fields and the late Ruby Cox. She is a 1968 graduate of Pearl High School in Nashville, Tennessee, however, she spent two years at Riverside High School in Chattanooga.
 
DeNeese worked in the fashion and hairstyling industry for a few years and even competed in the Miss Black Chattanooga Pageant. Later she attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, and later completed her studies in nursing where she spent the rest of her career in health care.
 
DeNeese was preceded in death by her son, Kelvin Fields; parents, Charles W. Fields and Vilma Scruggs fields; mother, Ruby Cox; brothers, Anthony and Vincent Fields; cousin, Finnis Jones.
 
DeNeese leaves her love and appreciation to her devoted family, brother, Albert Fields (Michelle) of Atlanta, GA; devoted cousin, Josephine Scruggs, of Chattanooga, TN; niece, Martobia Wood, of Chattanooga, TN; Uncle, James E. Jones, of Chattanooga, TN; special cousins, Gayle Oglesby Ricks, of Columbia SC, Tamara Oglesby, of Chattanooga, TN, Maurice (Mildred) Jones of Chattanooga, TN, Susan Jones (Kamal) Dorsainville, of Ridge, NY, Jackie Scruggs (Harold) Brown, David (Carla) Scruggs, Kimmie Scruggs; friends, Cynthia Cash and Marvis McKeldin, all of Chattanooga, TN; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
 
A special tribute and thanks to Grace Christmon, a long-time friend and devoted ally; her god-daughter Kia Mosley, whom she adored; her dear friend, Ballerie King; cousin, Josephine Scruggs, who went above and beyond taking great care of DeNeese during her illness.
 
DeNeese Howse will be remembered as a joyful, friendly, and loving soul. We Will Miss You.
 
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The service will be streamed virtually via Zoom. Please follow the link below:
