On Thursday, January 21, 2021, (Jessie) Marie Lasley, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 90 of natural causes.
Marie was born on October 8, 1930 in Walker County, GA to Martha and Earl Cleghorn. She retired from AT&T after many years of service. She married Claude Lasley and they raised two daughters, Brenda and Claudia. She lived most of her life in the Hixson/Soddy Daisy area.
Marie had a passion for working in her yard and tending to her house. She also loved traveling, driving through the mountains and site-seeing. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her quick wit, putting you in your place, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit. She played basketball in high school and loved sports. She loved watching the Braves, Vols (Lady Vols) and UNC basketball. She would make sure we knew whenever the Lady Vols, Vandy or UNC were playing. She loved talking to everyone about the games.
Marie was preceded in death by her father, Earl, her mother, Martha, her husband, Claude, and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister, Annie Mae Sanders, her daughter Brenda Goodwin (Stan Goodwin), her daughter, Claudia Davis (Todd Davis). She is survived by her grandchildren, Cortney (Tony) Brandolino, Zach (Tracey) McLaughlin, Mandy (Chad) Holt, and great-grandchildren McKenna Holt, Camden Holt, Miller McLaughlin and Hank McLaughlin.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Janice Pritchett and Inga Readus, who took wonderful care of her for the past six months and in her final days. They both gave her love and support when she needed it. They were absolute saints and she loved them both.
The pallbearers will be Stan Goodwin, Todd Davis, Zach McLaughlin, Tony Brandolino, Chad Holt, John Earl Allen and Camden Holt.
There will be no visitation due COVID.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1:00 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN where she will be laid to rest. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Clark.
