Roy Lessie Harden, Sr., 71, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at his residence.

He graduated in 1967 and later joined the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and earned the title of Sharpshooter. Roy was employed by U.S. Pipe for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ephram and Rosie Lee Harden, Sr. 

Survivors include his companion, Bettie Hampton; son, Roy L. Harden, Jr. of Houston, TX; daughters, Lakisha Harden of Houston and Tangie Young of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Ephram Harden, Jr. of Chattanooga; sisters, Pauline Harden, Betty Norman, Bessie Wright, and Callie Braggs, all of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Roy will lie in state on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Friday, Oct. 15, at noon in the chapel.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
