Thomas A. Crews
Rev. Thomas A. Crews, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1928 in Walkertown, N.C.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1951 and is a Korean War veteran. He was a long time employee of Hormel and Company. He was the co-founder of Pegram and Crews Whstl Meats in Kernersville, NC.
In 1974, Rev. Crews surrendered to the call of ministry. He attended Moody Bible Institute and School of the Prophets in Dallas, TX. He served as pastor at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, New Heights Baptist Church (Founding Pastor), and Hickory Valley Baptist Church. He also served as interim pastor at several local churches.
He served as a board member of Catoosa Baptist Association, Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, GBC and SBC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Crews, Jr. and Helen Whitman Crews; siblings, Virginia Smith, Frances (Dr. G.I.) Hanes, Alice Marie (Rudolph) Rogers, Addison (Alberta) Crews; and great-granddaughter, Briar Caroline Page.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jenny Crews; children, Becky (Barry) Page, Gary (Kim) Crews, Barry (Lynn) Crews; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, in the funeral home chapel with Jonathan Page and Andrew Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Justin Page, Jonathan Page, Barry Page, John Gary Crews, Andrew Crawford, and Jeffery Cart will be serving as Pallbearers.
